SMX London – 18th and 19th May 2009

16th May 2009 · Paddy · No Comments »

I’m fortunate enough to be attending SMX London this year, I can only make day two on the conference but I’m still very much looking forward to attending my first search marketing conference.  The lineup of speakers and presentations looks very high quality and I’m especially looking forward to the showdown between Rand Fishkin and Will Critchlow who are speaking on the Analytics every SEO needs to know panel.  I’ve got a lot of respect for both guys and their companies.

For someone who lives in England I do not tend to go to London very often so I am looking forward to going, ideally I’d like a little more time there to meet some more people from the industry but the current workload is very unforgiving.

My itinery for SMX London Day 2

  • Leaving work at Pin Digital on Monday 18th May to get the train down to London
  • 9.00am – 10.15am: Blow your mind link building techniques
  • 10.45am – Noon: Whats new with Social Media marketing
  • 1.15pm – 2.30pm: Analytics every SEO needs to know
  • 3.00pm – 4.15pm: Undecided between the SEO checkup and Advanced keyword research tactics – any ideas?
  • 4.20pm – 5.45pm: Give it up! panel

Overall a very diverse day covering plenty of good info, I am looking forward just as much to the networking and meeting new people from within the industry.  This is something I think is very important especially with something like SEO.  Its quite funny because in many industries, competitors are not so open and friendly with each other as they are with SEO.  I think (particularly in the UK – sorry I’m biased I know!) that the top SEO guys and girls have a lot of respect for each other despite probably competing against each other at some point.

Hopefully this is the first of many conferences that I will be attending during the course of my career in SEO.  I’ll be blogging about what I learn at SMX London and my overall opinion of the conference.
